How to find your perfect foundation?

How to find your perfect foundation?

At the middle of last month, I was excited to create series of articles about finding perfect summer make-up. I was decided to start with tinted moisturisers, as everyone says that is the perfect summer base.

So I ordered three, which have received a lot of love from people. I was excited to test them, and tell to you which is the best. But unfortunately, no one of them worked for me. I have combination skin- with pores and some wrinkles, and now and then some pimples. And tinted moisturiser just doesn’t give the coverage, what I need. And also those super glowy foundations, doesn’t work for my skin type. As the glow just emphasises my pores and wrinkles.

So instead I have decided to create this article, with some tips how to find the perfect foundation for you. Instead of listening of all the trends going on. My tips may seem basic, but sometimes it’s good to remind them to don’t get swayed in wrong direction with influencer tips.

Find out your skin type

To find the perfect foundation, you need to know what is your skin type. Also you need to know, what are your imperfections. Depending your skin is dry or oily, or with wrinkles and pores- your perfect foundation type changes. Now on trend are moisturising, glowy, dewy foundations- but they not work so well for oily skin types and the glowy part is not that flattering for pores and wrinkles. There are some dewy foundations which work for pores and wrinkles- but most of them doesn’t.

Moisturise your skin

For some time I had problem- that seemed no foundation worked for me. They all seemed patchy. With time, I discovered that foundations aren’t the problem. But my skin is- as is was not hydrated enough. So to make foundations work, well hydrated skin is a must.

Find the right shade

With my knowledge now- I would say- it’s better to pick shade what is little bit lighter than darker. I know, I know- we all wish to be those bronzy goddeses now and then. I have been guilty in the past to pick foundation which is too dark and also using bronzer all over my face. But now I prefer more natural look. Picking foundation shade- it’s suggested to pick colour witch is the best match between your face and neck colour. My neck is super pale- like it would live on another dark planet then rest of my body. So I need to pick a bit lighter foundation and give some colour to my face with bronzer.

Go light with application

For face with some wrinkles, it’s best to layer foundation lighter- as it will give your face more natural look. So that means, if you need more coverage- it would be best to use high coverage foundation, but use it in light layer.

Find the right influencer to follow

This advice is for those, who love to follow the beauty news and try new foundations quite a lot. I would suggest, to follow person who has the same skin type and issues as you have. As their experience with new foundations, could tell you more how it could work for your skin. But remember what is your skin tone, and which colours work well for your face. As watching items which look good on someone, we tend to forget that it may not look great on us.
